Case Studies on Ransomware Responses and Prevention

 This zoom panel discussion will involve cases presented from each of the panelists and open discussion on responses to and protection from ransomware attacks.  The discussion will be held under the Chatham House Rules.

 Session plan:

 Review of a couple of ransomware cases

  • Discuss observations 
  • Discuss future considerations (Organizational level, technical level)
  • Open Q&A

Japneet Kaur & Christina Cruz

 

Japneet Kaur

A cybersecurity professional w/ a strong academic background, creative problem-solving skills, and an effective mgmt. style. An award-winning artist, w/ artwork in United Nations, amazon best-selling book encouraging next gen of girls “Ripping off the Hoodies”, artwork for ISACA NY SLT launch bringing women leaders together.

Japneet is a Security & Risk Mgmt. lead at IBM. She was awarded by the NY Senate for her creative volunteer work in STEM. She is also an adjunct faculty. Prof. Kaur graduated as a Cyber professional in Exec. Master’s ‘Columbia University’, holds MBA in Marketing from NY, 2nd MBA in Finance in India, bachelor’s in Comp. Sci. A state univ. topper throughout her academic journey. In the area of operational excellence, Prof. Japneet is certified as a Six Sigma Green Belt, Data Analytics, PMP professional. Prof. Kaur was awarded 4 under 40 for ISACA Global. In addition to her entrepreneurial & educational success, Japneet has been an instrumental collaborator in the community by developing long-lasting relationships w/ numerous org. through memberships & mentorships.

 

Christina Cruz

Christina Cruz is a transformational leader with 20+ years’ experience in Cybersecurity, Risk Management, Accounting and Audit. She leads with a client service mindset and practical approach to explaining cybersecurity risks to enterprise organzations.

 
Currently as Director, Cybersecurity at Advance, Christina provides security leadership, drives security initiatives and capabilities for Advance’s corporate office and portfolio of companies which includes Conde Nast, Advance Local, Turnitin, IRONMAN, Stage Entertainment, American City Business Journals, POP, and Leaders Group. She previously worked at Paul Scherer & Company, a public accounting firm.


Christina holds an MS in Accounting from Rutgers University. Her professional certifications include Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Data Security Privacy Solutions Engineer and Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
