President's Message 2022-2023

ISACA New England Executive Board is happy to share with you some exciting updates.

ISACA New England Chapter was selected by ISACA Global to participate in the ISACA's Annual Day of Advocacy on Capitol Hill in September. We had the chance to meet with members of the US Congress about advancing digital trust and supporting legislation to fund federal civilian cybersecurity training programs – a truly bipartisan effort.

We also just had our 2022 Annual General Meeting and Conference coming back strong from virtual events with 300 attendees in-person attendees. And what a great event it was! Our keynote, Hoan Do, Ninja Warrior competition finalist and motivational speaker. His energy was contagious and our attendees were pumped for the great educational sessions on important technology and cybersecurity governance, risk, audit and compliance topics during the day.

We are grateful to our sponsors who made this day possible at the Westin hotel expo center in the heart of Boston, with great food, cocktail hour, and prizes. Click here to see the full list of our sponsors.

Also, check out the event pictures and get excited for our AGM event next year!

The Board and the Chapter membership also cast a few important votes at the AGM. Among them were the Board slate for 2023, as well as updated Chapter bylaws.

We recognized those who made significant contributions to our Chapter in 2023:

- President’s award recipient - Bob Doherty. The award recognizes most substantial overall contributions to the board, and to the Chapter. Bob is our Past President, and is recognized for his outstanding efforts leading our Chapter through the pandemic.

- John Beveridge award - Cindy Baxter. This award recognizes an individual who has made a significant contribution to the development of the common body of knowledge and the professional practices of IT and cybersecurity, audit, governance, risk and control. Cindy is our Board Compliance and Operations Officer, and was honored with John Beveridge award for her contributions to the ISACA “IT Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery Audit” framework, and her contributions to the “Audit in Practice” column in the ISACA Journal and ISACA Live Digital Innovations podcasts.

Stay tuned for more updates!
