Shaping the Future of Continuity: Mentoring and My Journey to a Career in Cyber Resiliency |
Mentoring has led to a common set of items attendees may use to help them find their own way. Hopefully, these high-level points provide the opportunity to have lots of question/answer involvement with the audience, including: • "Are You Content?" • "Set Career and Life Goals." • "Pick a Path and Stick to It." • "Certifications and Degrees." (Discuss differences and why someone should do one over the other.) • "Mentoring." (Discuss what, why, and how.) • "Local Career Centric Organizations." (How getting involved in local career centric organizations can help advance your career and offer networking opportunities.) • "Global and National Organizations." (How finding a global or national cause to support – like the ISACA Foundation – helps in life and career fulfillment.) |

How I Got Caught: Discover An Insider's View on Fraud |
In 2012, I made a fateful decision that shattered my life as I knew it. I defrauded one of the world's most prominent technology companies, a crime that landed me a 24-month sentence in federal prison, three years of supervision, and over $800,000 in restitution. My fraud was similar to the "Refunding" scams making the headlines (New York Magazine published a great article on this). My presentation is more than just a recount of events leading to my downfall. "How I Got Caught" is a dynamic and interactive session where together we'll explore the motivations, rationalizations, ethical boundaries, and the slippery slope that leads to catastrophic decisions - all from a rare, first-person perspective.
It goes beyond the surface-level details of the fraud, providing unique insights into the mechanics of my actions and the internal and external controls exploited for financial gain. This presentation explores the red flags Craig’s company missed, the red flags he chose to ignore, and crucially, the three methods the victim and the FBI used to catch Craig and build their rock-solid case.
Craig has previously presented to various ACFE, IIA, ISACA, IASIU, and IMA chapters, sharing his unique insights on fraud prevention and detection. He has also delivered a TEDx talk and authored a best selling book. |

Data Driven vs. Ethical Decision Making: Big Data. Data-driven decision making. They are more than buzz words; they are requirements in today’s competitive business environment. Data empowers organizations to respond almost in real time, but does “fast” decision making it also create problems? This session will explore the value of data and data-driven decision making, but also examine the pitfalls of decisions made solely using data. We will compare the difference between ethical decision making and data-driven decision making and how organizations can incorporate and embrace ethical decision making while still leveraging insights provided by data. We will also examine why critical thinking skills are so important when working with data and how data can be both unwittingly and willingly manipulated to alter perception and sometimes reality.
Leveraging AI in Auditing - A Practical Guide: This course equips internal auditors with the skills to leverage AI technology, specifically ChatGPT, across various auditing disciplines. The course includes interactive sessions where attendees engage with scenario-based learning, hands-on exercises, and group discussions to apply ChatGPT in enhancing documentation review, control testing, and data analytics. By integrating AI insights into traditional auditing practices, auditors will be better prepared to tackle modern challenges efficiently and effectively. This training is ideal for professionals seeking to integrate cutting-edge technology into their auditing processes, ensuring precision, enhancing risk management, and driving innovation within their organizations. |
