Data Analytics for Auditors - How To Actually Do It
Analytics in the audit profession has been around for over 30 years yet it’s still not widely used. There are so many applications that it’s difficult to understand where to use analytics and how to use analytics. In this session we’ll shorten the learning curve by doing real analytics where each attendee will walk away with multiple audit analytics testing procedures completed.
After this session, participants will be able to:
- Reperform two analytics tests on your own data that can be applied to almost any audit
- Implement “The Cadillac” of audit analytics
- Determine which tools might be best for their analytics program
Building Your Audit Analytics Strategy
Every Internal Audit department has data, and so every Internal Audit department should have a data strategy. Simply buying the tool and then expecting analytics to take off is never going to work. Hiring a data analyst and expecting analytics to simply happen rarely works. In our experience, we’ve found the root cause of ineffective audit analytics programs is due to the lack of strategy. In this session, we’ll look to understand what elements of a data strategy should be considered for Internal Audit departments.
