Message From the President
Greetings, fellow ISACA Research Triangle Chapter members,
It is an honor to step into the role of Chapter President, and I want to begin by thanking Scott Hanchett for his dedicated leadership and for leaving our chapter on such strong footing. I am also grateful to our outgoing officers and volunteers, and to the members who placed their trust in this new board at our recent Annual General Meeting.
For nearly 40 years, ISACA RTC has served as a home for IT governance, audit, cybersecurity, privacy, and risk professionals across the Triangle and eastern North Carolina. With more than 1,200 members spanning life sciences, financial services, technology, and higher education, our chapter reflects the depth and diversity of this region's digital trust community — and that strength is what we intend to build on this term.
Our focus this term
As we begin this new term, our board is prioritizing three things: clarity, consistency, and connection.
Clarity in how we operate. We are formalizing a clear chain of command across our officer and director roles so that every volunteer knows their area of ownership and every member knows who to reach out to - whether that's about a certification question, a sponsorship opportunity, or volunteering at an event.
Consistency in what we deliver. Members can expect our full calendar of educational sessions throughout the year, continued support for CISA, CISM, CRISC, and CDPSE certification preparation, and timely communication through our website and social channels.
Connection across our community. We want to deepen our ties with local universities, employers, and the broader digital trust community in the Triangle, creating more opportunities for networking, mentorship, and career growth at every stage — from students and recent graduates to seasoned practitioners.
What's ahead
In the coming months, you can expect to see refreshed volunteer opportunities as we align our growing volunteer base with the chapter's functional needs, an active calendar of training and networking events, and continued transparency around chapter governance and finances as we begin our new fiscal year.
None of this happens without you. Whether you've been a member for decades or just joined, I encourage you to attend a session, raise your hand to volunteer, or simply say hello at our next event. Our chapter is only as strong as the members who show up for one another.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your President. I look forward to working alongside our board, our volunteers, and all of you to keep ISACA RTC a place where digital trust professionals can learn, connect, and grow.
