Call for Nominations for the ISACA Victoria Board - 2021/2022

 

Get involved with the ISACA Victoria Board!

 

Benefits of volunteering on the Board include:

·        Influencing the local direction of ISACA Victoria

·        Working closely with peers in your industry

·        Collaborating with ISACA International

·        Planning and input on local ISACA events

·        Earning CPE hours (up to 20 CPE annually)


If you are interested in running for a position on the Victoria Chapter Board please submit your intention to do so along with a short biography to the Board (board@isacavictoria.ca) by Friday, June 25th, 2021 so the nominations can be presented and voted for at the AGM on June 30th, 2021.  Nominations will also be taken from the floor at the AGM.

Previous Board experience is not required.  New members are encouraged to apply and participate.  Service on the board counts towards CPEs.  Board meetings are currently via Teleconference.

Description of Chapter Officer Positions (from ISACA Victoria by-laws)

Section 3. Duties of Chapter Officers

The Chapter Officers shall perform the duties prescribed by these bylaws, and the parliamentary authority adopted by the Chapter.

    1. The Chapter President shall:
      • Preside at meetings of the Chapter and the Chapter Board;
      • Ensure all Chapter Board members have reviewed the Chapter Affiliation Agreement;
      • Appoint all committee chairpersons and members, with approval of the Chapter Board;
      • Be an ex-officio member of all committees, except the Nominating Committee;
      • Represent the Chapter at ISACA Leadership Conferences, and other conferences and functions, where appropriate, or appoint another Chapter Board member as a representative;
      • Serve as liaison and advisor in coordinating the activities of the local Chapter in support of the Association;
      • Present an annual report to members at the AGM; such report to consist of reports from various Chapter officers and committees;
      • Maintain communications with the Association and respond to Association enquiries;
      • Be responsible for submission of the required annual Chapter reports to the Association within 30 days after the AGM;
      • Supervise budgetary matters and proper internal control of finances;
      • Ensure Chapter trainers for ISACA certifications are accredited by ISACA; and
      • Perform other duties as pertain to the office of President, or which may be delegated by the Chapter Board.

    1. The Chapter Vice President shall:
      • Preside at meetings of the Chapter and the Chapter Board, in the absence of the President;
      • Perform the duties of the President in the event of his/her absence or disability;
      • Assume the office of President in the event of a vacancy in the office of President; and
      • Perform other duties as pertain to this office.
    1. The Chapter Secretary shall:
      • Take minutes of the meetings of the Chapter Board, membership meetings, and AGM, and maintain a copy of the records,
      • Maintain accurate attendance records,
      • Be responsible for the legal affairs, Chapter records and correspondence pertaining to the Chapter,
      • Assist the President in the administration of Chapter membership meetings, and
      • Perform other duties as pertain to this office.
    1. The Chapter Treasurer shall:
      • Be custodian of Chapter funds;
      • Receive and disburse such funds of the Chapter as shall be required in the conduct of its affairs and the carrying on of its activities or as directed by the Chapter Board;
      • Remit dues to the Association as required;
      • Submit a written report at each Board meeting;
      • Along with the President, authorize expenditures from, or transfers of funds from/to the Chapter US dollar credit account held at the Association;
      • Submit annual financial statements for presentation to the membership at the AGM;
      • Submit books and records for audit, when required;
      • File any and all tax forms required; and
      • Perform other duties as pertain to this office.
    1. The Immediate Past President of the Chapter shall:
      • Provide advice and guidance to the new President and Chapter Board, and
      • Perform other duties as pertain to this office.
    1. The Communications Director shall:
      • Maintain electronic lists of members and guests, in accordance with local applicable privacy laws;
      • Forward information on events and other pertinent information to email lists;
      • Identify and use other means of disseminating information about events and the Chapter, where appropriate; and
      • Perform other duties as pertain to this office.

G. The Membership Director shall:

      • Maintain accurate lists of membership, in accordance with local applicable privacy laws;
      • Disseminate membership lists as directed by Chapter Board, with due regard to security and privacy;
      • Report on Chapter membership data from the Association;
      • Coordinate plans for maintaining and increasing Chapter membership; and
      • Perform other duties as pertain to this office.

H. The Certification Director shall:

      • Maintain resource material related to ISACA’s certifications;
      • Promote ISACA’s certifications within the Chapter membership, including exam preparation sessions;
      • Ensure all certification training is conducted or overseen by ISACA-accredited trainers;
      • Report to Chapter Board on Chapter member exam results;
      • Act as liaison between Chapter member exam participants and the Association, as needed; and
      • Perform other duties as pertain to this office.

I. The Marketing Director shall:

      • Conduct general marketing and publicity of the Chapter, ISACA’s certifications, COBIT, CMMI, Cybersecurity Nexus (CSX) the Association, and any other new initiatives;
      • Coordinate initiatives involving partnerships and alliances;
      • Acquire any required marketing materials from the Association as authorized by the Chapter Board;
      • Exercise general policy control and direction of any mail-out kits, publications, editorial, or advertising the Chapter may issue, authorize or sponsor under the direction of the Chapter Board; and
      • Perform other duties as pertain to this office.

J. The Director at Large shall:

      • Contribute to the work of the Chapter Board on a wide variety of topics and projects, as directed by the President and Chapter Board.

K. The Programs Director shall:

      • Work with the Education Committee to develop and manage the Chapter’s monthly and training day programs.
      • Identify speakers and topics for the programs with help from the Education Committee.
      • Distribute and collect evaluation forms and compile results.
      • Maintain and update the program planner.
      • Send thank you notes to the speakers and the attendees.
      • Provide session description and biographical material of all speakers for marketing the programs.
      • Build a library of program topics, course material, and speakers.
      • Ensure attendees are awarded CPEs for attendance.
      • Perform additional duties as pertain to this office.

L. The CXS Liaison Director shall:

The CSX Liaison will receive information and updates from ISACA International on cybersecurity-related developments, including but not limited to research deliverables, training and education, the CSX certificate program and related future developments.

Major Responsibilities

      • Acts as ISACA International’s primary point of contact in your chapter for cybersecurity-related topics and deliverables.
      • Acts as the conduit for cybersecurity-related information from ISACA International to the relevant parties in your chapter. These audiences may be some/all of your chapter board, a segment of your chapter membership, and/or the greater local community.
      • Helps identify potential subject matter experts (SMEs) to participate in the development and/or review of cybersecurity-related research products.
      • Maintains ongoing communication with ISACA International and provides feedback on cybersecurity deliverables, proposed projects, etc.
      • Maintains relationships with universities that have cybersecurity-related course work and degree programs.
      • Provides feedback on ISACA International’s cybersecurity projects and events, as well as those organized by the local chapter.
      • Maintains regular communication with ISACA International’s cybersecurity team.

M. Academic Relations Director:

      • Work with the Academic Relations Committee to liaise with higher education institutions, and especially any ISACA Student Groups.
      • Meet with accounting and/or information systems student groups to promote ISACA membership and Certification; and encourage students to become ISACA members.
      • Be familiar with university/college curricula.
      • Plan and implement research grants, academic scholarships, endowment programs, or best student papers.
      • Perform additional duties as may be authorized and delegated by the Chapter Board.
