Description:

The Chapter Formation Task Force reviews chapter formation proposals submitted to ISACA. Its role is to determine whether a proposed chapter can become a viable, sustainable local entity that benefits both local members and the profession at large.

Anticipated outcomes:

ISACA chapters serve the professional and educational needs of members while enhancing local awareness of ISACA's role in the profession. Those forming a chapter must understand the association comprehensively, including its products, services, and member benefits. ISACA chapters collaborate with ISACA Global to maintain consistent standards and provide strong support worldwide.

When reviewing a new chapter proposal, ISACA assembles a volunteer team to evaluate and recommend whether the proposed chapter would benefit both ISACA and local members. These volunteers work closely with ISACA Chapter Experience staff throughout the review process.

Volunteers share insights, provide feedback, and offer unique perspectives during their evaluation. Their assessment plays a crucial role in determining whether a new ISACA chapter will be approved.

The specific responsibilities of the volunteers include:

  • Reviewing the Chapter Formation Application, which includes the proposed chapter name, territory, formation rationale, local market analysis, membership growth potential, governance, financial details, and planned educational events.
  • Reviewing submitted chapter bylaws outlining the purpose, objectives, activities, and governance structure of the proposed chapter.
  • Analyzing a detailed budget for the proposed chapter's first three years of operation.
  • Evaluating a SWOT analysis describing the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats to establishment and sustainability as a chapter.
  • Determining whether there are enough members in the proposed area from diverse industries and companies to ensure the chapter's sustainability.

Volunteer Criteria:

  • Must be a current member of ISACA.
  • Must have served as a leader of an ISACA chapter for at least 2 years.
  • Must have experience in running an ISACA chapter, including organizing educational events, conducting regular meetings, and promoting ISACA.
  • Should understand the association's overall structure, products, services, and member benefits.
  • Should know ISACA policies, chapter policies, and other information essential for chapter operations.
  • Should understand the local economy, politics, laws, and regulations to assess chapter viability in their region.

 Volunteer benefits:

  • Up to 5 CPE credits (max. 20 annually) in the area of Working on ISACA Boards/Committees/Working Groups upon successful completion of the term
  • Contribute to expanding the important, global network of ISACA chapters.
