Description:

The Chapter Leadership Advisory Group will support ISACA and its chapters by serving as key advisors for chapters facing governance challenges. They will help support healthy leadership structures, improved communication, and sustainable continuity practices. 

Anticipated outcomes: 

Advisory Group members will assist ISACA and its chapters by providing structured guidance during operational or governance challenges: 

  • Serve as neutral peer advisors to chapters experiencing leadership or governance issues.
  • Facilitate constructive discussion and recommend best practices for the chapter to move forward.
  • Provide structured feedback to ISACA, flagging cases that may require further support beyond the scope of the Advisory Group.
  • Thoroughly document all engagements using ISACA-approved templates.
  • Maintain complete neutrality and confidentiality when working with ISACA chapters.
  • Volunteers may recuse themselves from specific cases where appropriate.
  • Attend monthly meetings with ISACA Global and additional ad-hoc meetings scheduled as needed.
  • Commit to completing additional Conflict Mediation/Governance/Ethics training sessions for 3 months; Expenses paid by ISACA. (monthly 60-75 minute virtual sessions conducted by a trained association governance expert)
  • Contribute to additional projects and deliverables as needed, when governance issues are not using volunteer time.
  • NOTE: This is an initial, renewable commitment of two years. Upon being approved for this opportunity, volunteers are expected to serve through 2027. Commitment will be reaffirmed by both ISACA Global and the volunteers at the end of 2026.  

Core deliverables will include:

  • Advisory engagement summaries
  • Monthly insights report to ISACA staff
  • Recommendations for chapter support resources and long-term improvements 

Note: Volunteers on the Advisory Group will operate in an advisory capacity only. They will not have authority to intervene or enforce governance decisions.  

 Volunteer Criteria:

  • 2026 and 2027 ISACA membership required
  • Former ISACA Chapter President experience required
  • Familiarity with ISACA chapter governance and operational best practices required
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and neutrality while working with chapters
  • Experience coaching/mentoring individuals serving in a leadership capacity, preferred
  • Must be willing to commit to a renewable two-year term, through the end of 2027 

Spots are limited and not all applicants can be selected. Applications may close early based on volume.

Volunteer Benefits: 

  • Up to 20 CPE credits (max. 20 annually) in 2026 and in 2027, in the area of Working on ISACA Boards/Committees/Working Groups upon successful completion of the term. This activity does not align to an Exam Content Outline (ECO).
  • Contribute to the reputation of ISACA and betterment of members by ensuring ISACA chapters operate effectively and within governance best practices.
  • Assist with identifying common pain points for chapters that can ultimately lead to improved governance requirements between chapters and ISACA Global.
  • Complimentary, expert-led training on professional Conflict Mediation, Governance, and Ethics.
