ISACA Manila Chapter President Welcome and New Year Message
Dear Chapter Members,
Allow me to express my gratitude to you and the board of trustees for the trust and confidence you have reposed in me to lead ISACA-Manila this new and hopeful year. I am humbled, honored and filled with a sense of responsibility as I, with your participation and support, further pursue our vision and mission.
Last year, we were bestowed the globally coveted Outstanding Chapter Award despite the many challenges brought on by the pandemic. This is because of the hard work and invaluable contribution of the past leadership and of our dedicated volunteers, Secretariat and, of course, our members — all without whom this esteemed organization would not have flourished.
Do I feel the pressure? Certainly, but in a way that I see it as an opportunity and an inspiration to build on what we have accomplished last year. In fact, I have always been hopeful to be the servant-leader of our organization because I knew that, in this capacity, I would be able to not only become a better individual but also help others become better themselves.
My advocacy lies in education and technology, where I see the alignment of my personal purpose with ISACA’s purpose of helping you and the enterprises you serve achieve the positive potentials technology has to offer. We have 5-point medium-term goals that we recalibrate every year during our planning meetings with the Board to agree our Chapter priorities. This year, I shall propose to focus on the following:
1. Better member engagement and experience - I envision every member to be a Chapter ambassador to increase members who will be actively involved in various committees and take part in the speakers pool. We will strive to continue to provide you with affordable and relevant trainings via the most preferred channel or medium.
2. Better collaboration with the academe - There is a huge opportunity to serve new members by helping them bridge together theory and practice through mentorship with students and internship opportunities.
3. Better internal processes to respond to your requirements and make our operations effective and efficient.
With these priorities now on the table, your indispensable participation comes to the fore. Hence, I urge each and every one to be a volunteer and to participate in our events, to help in sharing knowledge, and to suggest improvements in our events and activities. Do take a moment and reflect on how you, in your current role, can also live ISACAs purpose of realizing the positive potentials of technology.
I am confident that with the invaluable support of our Board of Trustees and the Executive Team, and with the guidance of Isa, our past president, this organization will continue to flourish this year to serve you better. Together, we steer ISACA in its purposeful direction and propel it to greater heights.
On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I wish you and your families a healthful, prosperous and successful new year!
