Description:

The AAIR Certification Working Group is designated to support ISACA’s AAIR Certification program. Members of this group are responsible for ensuring the integrity and quality of the certification program and the exam content.
 
Anticipated Outcomes:
  • Support the exam development process, including:
    • Approve exam passing point/rate resulting from Standard Setting Analysis.
    • Review and approve exam drafts.
    • Review exam item performance via statistical analysis.
  • Approve requirements for certification.
  • Approve recertification methods and requirements.
  • Review and approve the empirically derived results of the updated job practice.
  • Review certification appeals and exam administration issues to determine appropriate action.
  • All work is conducted confidentially and may not be shared or discussed outside the working group members and ISACA staff.
Volunteer Criteria:
  • ISACA membership required.
  • Members must already hold the AAIR certification.
  • Diverse member representation required to include geographical areas, industry, and experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in one or more core domain areas required.
  • Fluency in English required for productive group discussion.
  • AAIR Working Group members may not teach a AAIR review course or develop AAIR review materials for a period of 3 years following the last date of service on the Working Group.

  • In-person and/or remote meeting(s): Meeting attendance is required, typically 2 per year.
    • The first 2026 is planned to be conducted virtually, 6-7 August 2026 (times TBD)
    • The second 2026 meeting is planned to be conducted in-person on 19-20 August 2026 from 8:00 am-4:30 pm US Central time in the Chicago, IL area. Travel expenses are paid by ISACA.
    • Ad hoc sessions to review items flagged for poor testing performance may be scheduled as needed. These sessions will be conducted virtually.  
    • If you foresee difficulties participating due to time zone differences or travel restraints, kindly refrain from applying.
    • The number of meetings and location could change based on business requirements.
 
Estimated Time Commitment:
  • 2 hours/month
  • Time commitment is expected to increase in weeks preceding meeting for item file pre-review.
  • Meetings are typically scheduled for 2 business days.
 
Volunteer benefits:
  • Up to 10 CPE credits (max. 20 annually) in the area of Working on ISACA Boards/Committees/Working Groups upon successful completion of the required tasks at the end of the term.
  • Working Group members will receive CPEs based on the time spent during the face-to-face meetings. Evidence of actual hours earned for the formal review process will be provided to Working Group members.

Per the ISACA Terms of Use all users are prohibited from sharing ISACA content or services with generative AI tools. AI tools and notetakers are not permitted in any ISACA-led meeting. We appreciate your cooperation.

AAIR Working Group members may not teach an AAIR review course or develop AAIR review materials for a period of 3 years following the last date of service on the Working Group.

Additional Information:

  • A minimum of 5 members must be present to constitute an official meeting and/or to vote on a motion.
    • Voting quorum: Simple majority of voting members. Voting quorum(s) include email votes when associated with conference calls and/or remote meeting agenda items.
  • Agendas will be distributed prior to each meeting. Minutes for the meeting will be prepared by ISACA staff and approved by members following the meeting.
  • Prior to the beginning of the term, all volunteers must sign ISACA’s Participation Agreement addressing:
    • The obligation to maintain confidentiality, for example when access to confidential information pertaining to ISACA, its activities or its constituents is provided in support of the work of the volunteer group.
    • Copyright ownership, for example when the volunteer group contributes to the creation of original material.
    • Disclosure of potential conflicts of interests, to ensure that the actions of volunteers are in the organization’s best interest.
    • The voluntary nature of participation in ISACA activities.
    • Certification Working Group members may not teach a related exam review course or be involved with the development of related exam study materials during service and for a period of 3 years following the last date of service.
  • Delegated and Reserved Authorities. A working group cannot:
    • Alter its terms of reference.
    • Operate outside an approved annual budget; unbudgeted expenditures must be coordinated with staff leads for appropriate approval before the expenditure is committed.
    • Fill its own vacancies, create/populate volunteer groups.
    • Legally bind the organization.
