Talk #1 Digital Forensics in Social Media by Damir Kahvedzic
In this talk, Damir will discuss some interesting examples of how digital forensics applies to social media and the tools and techniques that can be used to ensure that evidence from these platforms is properly collected. The session will look at the following area in detail:
- An overview of the typical cases involving social media and online groups
- What evidence can we see \ not see?
- What do we do when we need to secure that evidence correctly?
- We will cover evidence collection techniques from specific sources such as Facebook, Twitter and Boards.ie, as well as the cloud
- Tools \ Techniques on how to preserve social media evidence
- We will touch on the legal aspect, but this will be out of scope for the talk.
About Damir Kahvedzic: Damir has an extensive range of knowledge and expertise in digital forensics concepts, eDiscovery tools, and the digital investigative and eDiscovery process in its entirety. Damir has presented technical papers at several international conferences, has been invited to provide knowledge transfer and training to organisations such as the Norwegian Police University College (Oslo) and the European Criminal Law section of the Academy of European Law in Germany.
Talk #2 Operationalizing DSARs by Ines Rubio
In this talk, Ines will discuss how organisations can operationalise their process for reponding to DSAR requests. The session will look at the following area in detail:
- Tidying up your house: do you know where your data sits and can you easily retrieve it?
- Knowing your peers: are your policies and procedures followed by staff and mindful of their working requirements?
- Start big, finish small: understand the scope and narrow it down by filtering the data with analytics, searching and understanding of your business practices.
- Stand over your work: do you have a process in place? is your process robust enough? Have you done your best at responding to the request?
- Finding a way to streamline a response and avoid disruption to your business.
About Ines Rubio:
Inés holds a University Degree ("Licenciatura") in Law from the Universidad de Deusto, Bilbao, Spain and is a former member of the Bar Association of Vizcaya, Spain. Inés has been a member of BSI's Professional Services team since 2013, providing solutions to clients in the area of eDiscovery, Digital Forensics and Legal Tech.
