The average business struggles to resource its cybersecurity and privacy programs. Expertise is both scarce and expensive, and all too frequently transient. Analysts, engineers, and even CISOs change jobs frequently creating significant gaps in organizations. Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response (“SOAR”) solutions promise to alleviate, even eliminate, the resource and expertise problem through automation. Unfortunately, these promises are hard to realize and, in many cases, unattainable. Still, the promise of SOAR is too good to ignore.
This lunch‐and‐learn workshop will provide a top‐level overview of SOAR solutions, their pros and cons, and the all‐too‐common pitfalls of selecting and attempting to implement SOAR, as well as explore new advances in the automation space and the potential impact of AI on SOAR systems.
